Hamline University has announced the creation of a George Floyd Endowed Scholarship, made possible through the generosity of an anonymous Hamline alumni family. “It is through education that we create genuine change in hearts and minds that is so important to creating a just and equal society,” said Hamline University President Dr. Fayneese Miller. “The George Floyd Endowed Scholarship will provide the tools of change for future generations of young men and women who will lead the way to a better tomorrow for all of us.” The George Floyd Endowed Scholarship is created in a new realization that what we used to perceive as a "healthy Minnesota" is not healthy for all. The scholarship, which will be available in the fall, will help Hamline students of color—by promoting access to education and access to change. As Minnesota's first institution of higher learning, Hamline changes lives through our deeply-rooted commitments to our community. Hamline students include nearly half people of color. More than 40 percent are first-generation college students. The Hamline community is committed to justice for all members of our society as we “do all the good we can” in the world. To honor George Floyd's legacy with a gift to further the impact of his scholarship in educating African-American men and women at Hamline University, visit hamline.edu/GeorgeFloyd.

SP2 Chybie points me toward a local primary school context, where working together is part of everyday learning. I am interested in how pupils understand a shared goal and make room for different ways of contributing. That is the theme I associate with SP2 Chybie classroom cooperation. A group task can teach more than its final subject when students discuss how they divided the work. I like attention to the quieter contributions that may disappear when only the finished result is presented.

The combination of SP1 and Suloszowa gives primary learning a specific local identity. It makes me interested in the questions pupils can ask about familiar surroundings and the people who know them well. That is the angle I connect with SP1 Suloszowa local learning. A local observation can bring reading, measurement, and history into the same project. I like learning that starts with something nearby and allows students to discover which explanation or source will help them understand it better.

A name-based educational identity such as Sniadecki makes me curious about how the name is explained to the people who encounter it. A familiar label can carry meaning for an existing community while remaining unclear to a newcomer. That is my starting point for Sniadecki school identity. I like an introduction that connects the name with an understandable educational context. It gives readers something specific to ask about without requiring them to assume a history or association that has not been explained.

The question of where babies come from can sound straightforward while making adults unsure how much to explain. I think the first useful step is understanding what the child is actually asking. That is the conversation I associate with Skad Sie Biora Dzieci children's questions. A clear answer can use language the listener understands and leave room for another question. I appreciate explanations that are honest without overwhelming the conversation, because a child's curiosity does not always require every detail to be addressed at once.
